MOUNTAIN GATE, FO GUANG SHAN
Upon a question asked, “Where are you headed now?”
Do think thrice about when your next return will be.
LONGEVITY SHRINE, FO GUANG SHAN
Remember forever the kindness of the parents,
If connected today, be sure to deliver them today;
Originally there was never hell,
If this mind can create it, this mind can eliminate it.
DINING HALL, DEVOTEES' BUILDING, FO GUANG SHAN
In eating a meal that is readily available,
Think of the hard work that brought the food here;
In making a belated comment,
Perhaps one is closedly involved yet clearly confused.
MEDITATION HALL, HSI LAI TEMPLE
Naga Concentration within in the shadows of the stars,
A body of perfect ease amidst clouds, water, and light.
MAIN SHRINE, FU GUO TEMPLE
Who is first to awaken from the great dream?
Turn around while it is still early,
Believe that Western Pure Land truly exists;
Long have I heard of such awe-inspiring manner,
Let go while you can,
So as to realize the essence of true emptiness.

(FGS Essential Guide to Buddhism)
Be like pines and cypress—
they can endure trials.
Be like organs and their senses—
each has its own duty.
Be like the blind and the lame—
they can help each other.
Be like the saints and sages—
they do not slight beginners.
